OMBRE’S…The Good, the Bad, and the Over-processed

OMBRE’S…The Good, the Bad, and the Over-processed.

Where to get an Ombre in Destin

Ombres. The word ombre comes from the French word “shadow”.

Ombre is the actual coloring technique. It is the transition of a darker shade to a lighter shade. This technique can be beautiful, or it can be a total disaster if not done correctly.

However I have seen some ombre’s that literally scared me. At first sight it stopped me in my tracks. As a hair stylist of more years than I care to admit I notice most heads of hair. I find myself commenting to myself, ‘Oh! Great cut’, or ‘that color is way to dark for her’. Even I like what the hair stylist was trying to do but the execution is poor, or off.

As a public service, I want to show you all what a good Ombre looks like and what a bad ombre is. I will refer you to the photos above for your viewing pleasure.

Do remember if you are considering this service please bring in a photos and make sure you discuss with your colorist your desired color choices. Make sure they are aware that you want a blending of shades and not an abrupt line in your hair. Ombres can be done with hair color, not just bleach, and come in all shades.

Fashion Shades

Yes, fashion shades are fun but are these girls your main target market? I remember when I moved to New York many years back. I was fascinated by the punk rock culture. They wore the brightest hair colors. Yellow with black, pink or even green. By the way, I always thought green looked like someone’s…
