Destin hairstylist Bill Trotters picks for medium hair trends

The best new hair trends for mid length or medium length hair for spring and summer

This year’s hottest trends are the Shattered bobs. They are edgy with a hint of natural waves. These waves only work well if you natural hair has at least some natural wave to it. If that is the case you can get away with towel drying, some product and scrunching the hair upside down, finishing it with some natural oils or some fixative to define the style and tame the frizz.

If your hair is completely straight you may have to dry style with the help of a curling iron. This new flat ironing or curling technique is called Beach Waves. Use a large barrel iron, or a skinny flat iron, and spray the hair with a light hair spray, take a few vertical sections around the face working towards the back and start in the middle of the strand and wrap the iron around the hair. Make sure not to curl the ends, this look is messy and unfinished. Just rake your fingers through the curls and define them with a fixative.

Here are some example of this years shattered bobs.

Yes, fashion shades are fun but are these girls your main target market? I remember when I moved to New York many years back. I was fascinated by the punk rock culture. They wore the brightest hair colors. Yellow with black, pink or even green. By the way, I always thought green looked like someone’s…
